ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Howard A. Dahl is president and CEO of Amity Technology, LLC, of Fargo, North Dakota, a manufacturer of farm machinery. He has done extensive work in the former Soviet Union and was the honorary consul of Kazakhstan in the United States for ten years. Dahl has served on numerous boards, including as the audit chair for the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank. Currently, he is chairman of the board of Astarta, a large publicly traded Ukrainian company. Also, he is a member of the board of trustees of the Trinity Forum and serves on the board of directors of Emerging Prairie and of the Ethics and Public Policy Center. He and his late wife, Ann, have worked to help rebuild Christian practice in former Soviet lands.
Patrick J. McCloskey is an author, journalist, and editor who served as the director of the social and ethical implications of cyber sciences and editor of Dakota Digital Review for the North Dakota University System. Previously, he served as the director of research and publications and editor of 360 Review Magazine at the University of Mary. He also served as the press secretary for Canada’s Minister of Agriculture and Agrifood. He earned a BA in Philosophy and Political Philosophy at Carleton University and an MS in Journalism at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. McCloskey has written for many publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Post, City Journal, and New English Review. His books include Open Secrets of Success: The Gary Tharaldson Story, Frank’s Extra Mile: A Gentleman’s Story, and The Street Stops Here: A Year at a Catholic High School in Harlem, published by the University of California Press to critical acclaim. McCloskey consulted for the executive committee of the board of advisors for the Archdiocese of Chicago. He also served on the advisory board of the Reilly Center for Science, Technology and Values at the University of Notre Dame.
